Why wellness for employee?

Taking care of our employees' well-being is not just the right thing to do; It's also a crucial business strategy that directly impact its bottom line. When our team is healthy and happy, they are more productive, which helps our company grow and retain top talent. It's an investment that benefits everyone.

What are the problems?

  • Employees delay seeking providers due to overwhelm & vetting confusion.

  • Companies struggle to assess and improve employee benefits.

How might we

  • Employee Facing: How might we simplify the process to find wellness providers?

  • Employer Facing: How might we help companies measure employee benefits and identify opportunities for improvement?

Approach #1 : Dynamic Dashboards

The dashboard is highly customizable. To determine the sequence of the top widgets, we conducted UX research using card sorting with 16 users sorting through 20 different cards. New users see default top-voted widgets but can personalize their dashboard by adding or removing widgets.

Approach #2 : search Optimization

Encourage users to try NLP (Natural Language Processing)- based search off the bat. It acts as a guide, suggesting providers tailored to users info & location.

We get it – not knowing can be tough. The real-time medical term display enhances search efficiency by revealing terms as users type.

Approach #3 : Ease of scheduling

Full scheduling function within the application. Seamless integration of existing calendar to allow users to mark availability and edit event types with ease.

What did our users say?

We conducted usability testing with four sets of users & synthesized findings in a team workshop. Check out the complete team synthesis board, with testing scripts in FigJam.

Key findings from the synthesis:

  • Privacy is a top concern and similar question has shown up in 75% of usability testing; users have a major value on data transparency.

  • The completion rate of the initial onboarding task flow is 33%

  • Users find billing information confusing; they rated it a high 3.9 out of 5 in need of financial clarity on dashboards, according to the post-survey.

  • Users prioritize the provider‘s availability when seeking a service out of all other indexes.

What did this project teach me?

  • 👩🏻‍💻 Narrow the Scope.

In hindsight, our team agrees that the scope was initially too broad. We started by aiming at three types of users and later narrowed it down to just one. This scattered process makes it tough for UX designers to shift design focus.

  • 📦 Test early and often.

Prioritizing testing over adding features, always! In hindsight, I would start testing at the wireframe stage, as simple as 5-second testing. It doesn't need to be elaborate, user feedbacks is what matters.

  • 🤝 Design Advocacy.

As the sole designer in the startup, I would take more opportunities to speak up and educate the team about the impact design can deliver in shaping a trust-based culture & long-term product vision.
